Location
9/10
Some 10 miles to the east of Tournus, it is ideally situated for visiting the many attractions of southern Burgundy. The farm is in a lovely rural setting with peaceful gardens.
Style/character
10/10
An antidote to grander hotels, in an exquisitely restored 18th century farmhouse. Marie-Eugenie and her husband, Dominique, offer a friendly welcome and the place is clean and well furnished.
Service
10/10
This is rural France at its most welcoming, with none of the stuffy pretentiousness you find in grand hotels. As Dominique pours you an evening drink, he’ll recommend places to visit in the area.
Rooms
10/10
Beautifully restored and immaculately clean. The only drawback is the fact that there are only four. Word of this wonderful guesthouse is spreading fast through Burgundy, so book early.
Food and drink
10/10
Marie-Eugenie is an excellent cook, preparing local dishes in ample quantity. Four courses for around £28(€35) represents superb value for money.
Value for money
9/10
A double room with breakfast start at £111 (€135), but budget a little higher in holiday time. Credit cards are not accepted.
